Grilled Cherries in Spiced Butter Rum Sauce

  • 3 lbs sweet cherries pitted
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup aged rum


  1. In a bowl combine cherries and powdered sugar.
  2. Grill cherries on skewers or in a grill basket until cherries are charred and soft.
  3. Melt butter in a medium sized pot and add, sugar, spices and cherries.
  4. Bring mixture to a simmer and cook until sugar has dissolved.
  5. Add rum and simmer a couple more minutes.
  6. Serve warm or at room temperature.
